a Boomer Poem inspired by Perry Como & Johnny Mathis
Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays
No matter how much you must get done
When you walk through the front door of your lovely place
For the holidays
You can’t beat home, sweet home!
You meet neighbors from far and near
Who spent every holiday
Traveling to visit family every year
Now in Georgia they are stayin’
With grandkids they are playin’
And at night they can sleep soundly
Their homes improved their lives profoundly!
Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays
Where the kitchen is the center of the home
If you want to entertain your friends and family
For the holidays
You can’t beat home, sweet home!
A stroll with friends you’ll be lovin’
While the turkey’s in the oven!
No need to board a plane or drive in the car
For the pleasure that you seek
Is right here on your own street
You don’t have to travel far
You’ll meet neighbors on your street
And with surprise you’ll find
So much in common with these folks who all reside
In a place so well-designed
Where happiness is prolific
And the lifestyle is terrific
Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays
Where just living in your home brings so much peace
You’ve discovered how to be happy in a million ways
Welcome home to
