From the perspective of homeowners, Carl and LaVerne Abbott We lived near Seven Hills previously (off Acworth Due West Road) on Carl’s 65 acres that had been in his family since the 1830s. It was hard to part with but it was getting to be too much to maintain and we felt nervous about leaving when we traveled. In 2013 we had some health scares and while everything turned out alright, we decided to make a move while we were still able to move ourselves. We picked up a contract on our property and decided to start enjoying a lower maintenance life. We are avid travelers and take the RV off for months at a time and wanted the ability to lock and leave with no worries. We love national parks and Carl is an amateur photographer. Last year we left in mid-December for Christmas in Palm Springs and didn’t get home till March, traveling all over California and Arizona throughout the winter. This year we have an Alaskan Cruise coming up and next year it’s off to Alberta Canada for the Calgary Stampede and touring for a couple of months afterwards. Adventure is a big part of our lifestyle. After shopping for a new home off and on since 2005 - and ruling out ranch condos or anything small and attached - we saw an ad for Bel-Aire in West Cobb. We really liked Windsong’s low maintenance lifestyle and detached ranch homes with “aging in place" accessibility features that are built in — like wider door and hallways and step-less entry. I have had both of my knees replaced and steps were a challenge there for a while. I liked the single level living, but Bel-Aire wasn’t the right fit for us. It was suggested that we check out Windsong’s communities in Seven Hills. When we saw the Bentley model we fell in love and found our new home at Windsong Manor. We thought that we would “downsize€? but when we saw the spacious Bentley, our focus shifted from "downsizing" to "dream home." We loved how open and bright this plan is even though there aren’t windows on the sides. Because of that, you really feel secluded — it’s nice and private, like no one is on either side of us. We chose a homesite that backed up to the creek basin and that added 60’ of preserved greenspace past our back yard. It’s awesome to still have the feeling of living in the woods! We love spending time outside on our deck or enjoying the breeze on the patio below. These homes are really thoughtfully designed inside and out! Our main living area was similar in size to our former home, but we opted for the finished basement so I could have a sewing room and we could accommodate a live-in assistant if the need arose. The terrace level has a large sewing room, a bedroom, a bathroom, an entertainment/TV room with fireplace, a kitchenette and more storage. It sounds like a lot, but hosting a quilting party or having friends stay with us in their own comfortable and private area is going to be wonderful. The best thing is that we don’t have to use the basement and can live all on the main level. We can’t say enough amazing things about Brian our builder, Gay-Lynn our sales agent and Mike Lust, the sales manager who reworked the terrace level plan to suit our needs. The builder was responsive, patient and accommodating; he went above and beyond, anticipating our needs and delivering our dream home. The quality of this home is fantastic and that’s coming from a couple of picky customers! We appreciated Brian’s attention to detail and the time he took with us when we signed the contract to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted. I especially enjoyed the ability to go to Pinterest and shop my design options beforehand. I made my own “New Home Board" and pinned my preferences from the Windsong Digital Design Center. When I showed up at the design center for our selections consultation, my mind was already made up. I even went to the design center for help selecting colors for furniture and when I got there, Amy already had my samples laid out. The design selections process and experience has been fabulous! We’ve had a superb experience with Windsong and I would highly recommend them and this community to anyone looking for a low maintenance lifestyle in a luxurious ranch home.
