Windsong Properties, a leading active adult homebuilder with several communities in Cherokee and Paulding Counties, received the highest honor with the Community of the Year for 55+ homebuyers for its Marlowe community. Taking home two Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) OBIE Awards this year, the company continues to build on its leadership in this specialized housing category -- all the more significant in light of ongoing pandemic-driven challenges facing the industry.
“Marlowe is in Woodstock, only minutes from downtown, a thriving area in Cherokee county,” said Windsong Builder Joe Brown. “This Community of the Year award means so much to me personally because I wanted to prove to my team that we could win this prestigious honor. Windsong has won multiple OBIE awards, but it was a real challenge starting a community during a pandemic. Nonetheless, we created a beautiful community and crossed the finish line as the best active adult community in Atlanta.”
Considered a premier award in the Atlanta home building industry, the annual GAHBA OBIE Awards recognize outstanding achievement in home building across more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing, and personal achievement categories. In addition to earning Community of the Year for Marlowe, Windsong took home a silver award for Echols Farm.
“After experiencing and overcoming an unprecedented building and real estate market last year, this award seems a little sweeter for the team and the challenges that we faced,” said Sales Assistant Jane Kaeser. “Material and labor shortages, increasing costs, and social distancing requirements impacted our building process. For example, the team had to pivot with product lines, increase communication, explore new technology, and adapt new internal practices. Little things, like taking photos during the build process, allowed the buyer a quick view of their home while keeping trades safe and healthy, proved quite effective.”
