Do What You Love
A Boomer Poem – inspired by e.e. cummings, Nelson Mandela, and Dr. Seuss
It always seems impossible until it is done
Nelson Mandela once said
That certainly applies to January days
When we don’t want to rise from our beds
Active Adults “Jam” Against the “Chiller”
A Halloween Boomer Poem, inspired by “Thriller,” by Michael Jackson
Almost November
Before 7 pm it’s getting dark
The chilly moonlight
You’re under blankets or a heavy sark
You can’t get warm...
Oh, The Place You Will Live...
A Boomer Poem, inspired by Dr. Seuss
Congratulations-
On your decision today!
You found a neighborhood
And decided to stay!
A Boomer Poem, inspired by Summer Lovin’ - Olivia Newton-John & John Travolta/Grease
We’re right-sizing, having a blast
Found our dream home – happened so fast
Single story, lawn maintenance-free
And the floor plan’s perfect for me
A Boomer Poem, inspired by Summer Breeze, by Seals & Crofts, 1972
How I love it, hangin’ by the window
In the A/C on those summer nights
I see the full moon shining through the window
Unobstructed, it’s so bright
April showers early came
Dousing us most of the days in March
Flowers blooming, pollen in the air
Longer days, fewer hours in the dark.
I taste the morning coffee – an inspirational thing.
Winter dawn colorful one day, gray the next
In Georgia, where weather’s mercurial nature
Led us to invent “dressing in layers”
An assortment of coats, sweaters, scarves
Gloves for good measure
A Boomer Poem (with bonus holiday information & links)
We gather together online for Thanksgiving
A screen shot of family this year we’ll employ,
It’s par for the course in this year we are living
Still turkey and dressing and pie we’ll enjoy.
A Boomer Poem, inspired by “To Autumn,” by John Keats
Our season of crisp air and apple festivals,
Nature changes from hues of green to gold;
Leaf-peeping to fully enjoy the season that is Fall,
Trees embrace the last hurrah, and prepare for cold.
(inspired by “Our Little Town,” by Simon & Garfunkel, 1970)
In our neighborhood
We find comfort in knowing
We have so much life in common
And we can lean on each other
In joy and pain and through it all
We chose each other, after all.
