Home is where the heart is
And we feel it pitter-pat
When the front door is opened
And friends are on the welcome mat.
Windsong was founded 20 years ago with the idea that purchasing a new home to address life changes (empty nest, retirement, desire to travel instead of take care of the yard…) should not affect the quality and luxury features that these home buyers had enjoyed while working and raising a family.
In celebration of Dr. Theodore Geisel’s (aka Dr Seuss) birthday today!
Theodore Geisel (born in 1904)
Penned 60 books (or a few less, or more)
Over his long lifetime his fame is documented
With stories featuring words he invented
Who complains about this shortest month?
The weather unpredictable
One holiday, celebrating love
Once broken, is it fixable?
Romantic love, a love of friends,
If you live in Georgia, you’ve likely seen – and relate to – the cartoon about dressing for the weather in one winter week: Sunday, short sleeves; Monday, sweatshirt; Tuesday, winter coat; Wednesday, shorts & flip-flops; Thursday, t-shirt and jeans; Friday, swimwear; Saturday, layers with scarf and hat.
We may complain a bit about the summer heat, but at least we know how to dress when it isn’t winter!
Can you believe it’s already December
What happened to the rest of 2022?
So quickly they flew – January through November
But that’s just what happens when you enjoy what you do.
I looked around one day and I discovered
Rooms I used rarely were drab and dust-covered
Kids had moved out, my home’s too big for me
This was the first of life-altering things.
A Windsong Original poem
Fresh-brewed coffee in a great big mug
Its scent envelops me like an aromatic hug
The sunrise through the windows gives my heart a tug
I have so many reasons to smile.
Wide, welcoming courtyard entices me outside
Blooms on every one of the new plants I’ve tried
I take in their beauty and happily sigh
I have so many reasons to smile.
A Boomer Poem, inspired by A Boat Beneath a Sunny Sky, by Lewis Carroll
Scorching pavement beneath a sunny sky
Sipping lemonade on a shady porch
One afternoon in late July.
A Boomer Poem, inspired by American Pie, by Don McLean
A long, long time ago
I can still remember when doing yard work made me smile
But I knew if I had the chance
I could use that time to dance
Or maybe nap in the courtyard for a while
