Watching the weather reports for the rest of the country, we shouldn’t complain about the dip in temperatures (more than a dip – it’s a plunge!) here in Georgia this week. Thankfully, by next week, this plunge will be a memory for those of us here in the South.
Southerners have some tasty ways to forget the weather outside, with warm, wonderful meals that will make your mouth water just reading about them.
Whether you have already purchased (and are living in) your Windsong home, or you have chosen your plan and are making choices of colors and finishes during the building process, some of the predictions that top Southern designers have made for 2024 might help influence your choices.
Holidays are steeped in traditions, but some of them vary depending on where you live, where your ancestors hail from, and how much you enjoy following trends.
The first of the “big holidays” is behind us, and with Thanksgiving in the rear-view mirror, it sometimes feels like we’re in “shopping mode” for the four weeks or so that follow.
But the holiday season doesn’t mean you have to spend money. Instead, consider spending time… with people you love, doing things you enjoy, or pursuing interests that you’ve either given up on or have always wanted to try.
With Thanksgiving in the rear-view mirror, and the past five days now sporting monikers that encourage shopping, running errands, and over-planning, we are just days away from the “countdown” to Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, even the Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe, not to mention New Year’s Eve. So, if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, you are not alone.
Why do we do this to ourselves? We just seem to get so swept up in the frenzy of festivities, that we forget to enjoy the season!
The week of shopping has begun – or at least we’ve been making our list and checking it twice… for Thanksgiving. Don’t worry- shopping for gifts begins next week, just as we’re figuring out what to do with all of those leftovers in the fridge.
But before we even get to the leftovers, this is a great time to sort out the contents of the fridge in order to make room for the ingredients for next week’s feast, that will then become the leftovers.
We’re just one month away from the official beginning of the 2023 holiday season, when folks take to the highways and skies to visit friends and relatives, which is why it makes sense that we recognize November as National Aviation Month.
The day has arrived, when you hold in your hands the keys to your dream home, after visiting the model, choosing your floorplan and homesite location, meeting with the design team to decide on finishes for floors, paint colors, cabinetry, and everything in between.
If you’re like most people who have been on this earth for more than a few decades, you’ve likely amassed a number of friends – some acquaintances, some “in it for life.” Friendships began with those we met in school, activities in which we were involved, even at work. We formed relationships with the parents of our kids’ friends and teammates, and neighbors in the places where we raised those kids.
So often we hear that the three most important things to consider when buying a home are location, location, location. But underneath those words are the meanings we assign to the place in which we choose to live, so that it’s not just convenient, but conducive to the life we wish to enjoy.
